Year of the Monkey

Chinese New Year falls on Monday 8th February this year but will be celebrated in London on Valentines Day, Sunday 14th February. Head over to the West End for one of the most theatrical events in the London calendar and it is all free. Said to be one of the biggest celebrations outside Asia, the focal point is the big parade, which will start at 10.15am from Trafalgar Square through the West End and finishing in China Town – of course. Fireworks take over from live entertainment which includes opera and acrobats, at about 5.20pm. We are entering the year of the Fire Monkey and those born in this year are supposed to be witty and wise and should preferably fall in love with an ox or a rabbit. New Year Goodness in Mandarin is “sshin-nyen haoww”.  Sshin-nyen haoww. chinahighlights
