Winter warmth for our older neighbours

Last week Britain shivered in sub-zero temperatures and the bitter weather is due to return. Age UK K&C, Nucleus Advice Centre and Citizens Advice know of many older people struggling to keep warm and to cope with their winter fuel bills. Those charities apply to the K and C Foundation for Winter Warmth support. Brilliantly, local residents have already donated £27,000 to this year’s campaign, but the charity says it still needs more and that ‘every penny will be passed on to a neighbour who really needs your help’.

Anyone can give to the campaign including businesses or schools and if you are someone who receives the Government’s Winter Fuel Payment you can donate all or part of it. Bearing in mind how icy it was last week, it’s hard to believe that 26% of local older people in this Borough turn off their heating through fear of not being able to pay their fuel bill, and 14.3% of households live in fuel poverty. You can donate here and feel warm inside … thekandcfoundation or else email … [email protected]
