Get down and dirty

If you fancy yourself as a bit of a Bear Grylls or Kate Humble now is your chance to volunteer with Taskforce 4 Nature. Based in Holland Park it’s a chance to help with the park’s conservation work: building dead-hedges and stag beetle loggeries, pond maintenance, woodland management and meadow cutting. The next volunteer day is on Saturday 17th January with sessions running from 10.30am – 3pm.  Volunteers should meet near Holland Park cafe and are advised to wear sturdy shoes, bring waterproofs and lunch and expect to get down and dirty. For more information email Daniel at Groundwork London [email protected]

There are also a huge range of wildlife events at Holland Park Ecology Centre, with talks on amphibians, bats, parakeets, bumblebees, flora and fungi. The first event of the new year is a winter tree walk on Saturday 21st February. You can sign up to get alerts about activities at rbkc.gov  All the events are free but must be booked in advance.
