Count the birdies

1018773_tcm9-157437London’s and the world’s largest wildlife survey is this weekend, and you can be part of it. Or if you have smaller people in the house, you can sit them by the window counting while you have a nice read of the paper. Organised by the RSPB, all you have to do is download this form …and join half a million others ticking the boxes to say which birds you have seen in your garden or the park or even possibly outside a pub. People have been doing the garden survey for the past 30 years and RSPB experts use the results to track what bird populations are doing and take action if needed. Also, for the first time, you are being asked to note down squirrels and any other animals too.Plus, you can record bird sightings straight onto your tablet, laptop or phone using a download. Anyway, it takes an hour on either 25th or 26th January, just register at  www.rspb.org.uk/birdwatch Last year 8.2 million of our feathery friends were counted.   www.rspb.org.uk
