Where to recycle?

What about a Spring Clean? But where to put those shabby boots? In the recycling hubs either in Holland Park car park, on Moscow Road or outside Kensington Leisure Centre. You are supposed to put each pair of old foot preservers into separate plastic bags. And what about your hairdryer? Well ready for an update to an ionic one? All small electrical bits can go to the Tavistock Depot on Portobello Road, which is just south of the Westway. Other small things like kettles and toasters can go there too.

Spring is also the time of year to snip away at our plants and the council’s Streetline will give you a free composting bag and collect the twigs and bits every other week if you call them on 0207 361 3001. The council will also collect one big thing, like a fridge, TV washing machine or sofa free under its Too Big for the Bin scheme. It will collect up to 10 BIG THINGS for £23.30. Far cheaper than a visit to an osteo for a pulled back. www.rbkc.gov.uk/environmentandtransport/domesticrecyclingandrubbish/recycling.aspx

One last thing, there is a local Freecycle group where you can offer stuff free. A local who needs it, or a kleptomaniac, will then collect it. www.uk.freecycle.org
