Venture Centre children bid to join carnival parade

Wornington Road’s Venture Centre is hoping to crowdfund £5,000 by Friday 20th May so they can hire a float and create costumes for around 40 children to take part in the Notting Hill Carnival. Each year there are local children who watch the carnival pass but up until this year they haven’t been able to take part in the parade.

Now the organisation has turned to civic crowdfunding platform Spacehive to try and raise the money so the children can join the parade and in the process learn how to make their own carnival costumes and find out about the event’s history. So far it has raised £855 but is hoping to drum up more support from residents and businesses.  Companies that pledge more than £250 can have their name and branding on the float.
