V&A to show protest art

Screen Shot 2014-03-12 at 09.19.36From Suffragette teapots to protest robots, an exciting new exhibition at the V&A is coming up. The show will highlight how grassroots political activism can produce new art and design. All the objects will be those that have a role in social changes, from defaced currency to political violence weaved into Chilean folk art textiles. There will also be giant inflatable ‘stones’ which were thrown at recent demonstrations in Barcelona (pic). Disobedient Objects, V&A, Exhibition Road, Porter Gallery, 26th July-1st February, 10am-5.45pm except Fridays when it’s open until 10pm. www.vam.ac.uk
