Underpass to replace flyover in Hammersmith

viwsplit0303aPlans to tunnel under Hammersmith to replace the 53 year old flyover have been given the go-ahead. The mega-tunnel will be paid for in part by the land which will become available for development once the flyover is demolished (pic, before and after). The whole project is set to take up to four years and cost £218 million for a one mile tunnel or £1.7 billion for a two and a half mile tunnel. The prime riverside land which will be released from it’s tarmac cloak could be worth up to £1 billion say Hammersmith & Fulham Council. It’ll be Hammersmith Riviera. www.lbhf.gov.uk
