We reported the demise of Tom’s Deli too soon. It’s back in action, refreshed inside and with a new chef, Tom Straker, who used to cook at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal. He has said the next big thing in British cooking is the carrot, so we can expect adventurous orange-y dishes. We can now resume the position, with enhanced food on offer like ham hock terrine with puy lentils, aubergine, walnuts and lemon and coriander yoghurt for £15, or a simple white onion soup, with crispy onions, basil and ricotta for £7.50. The downstairs bit will become part of the cafe/restaurant, with a few edible bits and bobs still for sale on the ground floor. Just like before.
