Three plays open locally

At the Gate this week Eclipsed by Danai Gurira has opened and is on to 16th May. Set in 2003 in Liberia with a civil war raging, Eclipsed centres around a group of women at a rebel army base. gatetheatre

Next week on 27th April As Good A Time as Any opens at the Pint Room (now in the Coronet Cinema), a new play written and directed by Peter Gill. Eight ordinary women, unheroic inhabitants of the city speak about the continuity of everyday life, and its inexhaustibility. On to the 23rd May. And for those not in the theatre know Peter Gill (in pic) is someone special.  the-print-room

Also opening next week at the Bush Theatre on 30th April to 13th June is The Angry Brigade by James Graham – who wrote the sell-out play This House btw. The Angry Brigade is a young guerrilla group rising out of 1970s high unemployment. An uprising is started. Great pre-election crowd warmer. bushtheatre
