Next week local charity Nova is holding its summer talk and auction to raise funds to cover the cost of venues supporting 300 learners a year. Nova New Opportunities works with marginalised and vulnerable adults who want to do more to support their families, improve their skills to get into work and want to contribute more to the community. The 1,400 users annually face challenges of low household income, overcrowded accommodation, isolation, lack of skills and limited English language proficiency. These factors undermine personal confidence and create barriers for them. Nova has worked over the last 30 years to help people to overcome these barriers and fulfil their potential. Over the last six months Nova, based under the Westway, has begun delivering English, maths and ICT classes along with information, advice and guidance sessions both in the north and the south of the Borough.
The fundraiser is on Wednesday 18 June . MP Jerry Hayes will be speaking about his recently published memoir and on auction will be items primarily donated by local businesses. To attend or make a donation email Nova’s Business Development Officer, Deepali Nangia on [email protected] More at novanew
