Spring clean your life with Louisa Burnand

Life Clubs are a sort of communal therapy and our local one is led by Louisa Burnand who has been guiding people in the art of living for the past three years. Life Clubs have developed a series of exercises which give people space to slow down and think about their lives. “It’s quite full-on, there are quite intense conversations,” says Burnand, who coaches up to eight people at a time. They are for anybody, and the classes look at normal day to day problems, moments of transition like a new job, people not having confidence, children moving away from home. “It’s this thing of actually wanting to do things differently,” explains Burnand. “We all do things the same unless someone nudges us into doing things differently.” The people who go to Life Clubs recognise that getting a bit of outside help is sometimes great. It gives people regular time out to focus on themselves and look at what they are doing. Says Burnand: “It’s about living a bit more consciously. It’s about being in control of our life instead of life being in control of us.”

Life Club Kensal Green runs monthly for three hours on the third Saturday of every month, so the first one is this Saturday, 23rd April, from 10am – 1pm.  Costs vary, from £50 – £28.50. If you haven’t been before, you can join and just pay what you want, just to try it out. “I really want this to be accessible,” says Burnand.
