A cut above, Danish food for Golborne

Golborne’s Danish-owned hairdresser Kell Skött has been re-styled and just opened as a Danish ‘eatery’. It still looks hairdresser spick and span inside, with the clean lines of blonde wood tables and sharp modern seating. Once through the door there is a plethora of delicious Danish food, especially for fish lovers with a selection of finely cut fillets of salmon and home-marinated herring. Lots of lovely feathery fennel. There are good-looking Tiberkes, pastries to you, and Smørrebrød open sandwiches. And don’t forget the meatballs. This cafe has been five years in the pipeline and hats-off to Kell and Jacqueline Skott for making such a bold move. They have with them Danish chef Trine Vennerstrøm Eriksen-Johnson, formerly of the Paternoster Chop House. Everything seems to have an appropriate chop or a snip in it … Snaps + Rye, Golborne Rd,  open Tuesday – Saturday,  8am – 5.30pm, Sunday 9.30am – 5.30pm. snapsandrye.com.
