Second Half selling exhibition

A selling exhibition of seven amazing local artists will be held at the Second Half Centre this month and all Notting Hill Post readers are invited to the opening on 1st October 6.30pm  8.30pm to hear Maureen Lipman open the show. Artists will include Heather Graham who trained as a textile designer, worked as a stylist and journalist for Vogue and now makes works printed and collaged onto fabrics. Also exhibiting is Claire Malet, who makes jewellery and bowls inspired by the textures and shapes of natural forms and landscapes: fragments of sea-worn shells, the rock formations of a battered coastline, a curl of split bark, the dancing light and shadow of woodland, the line of a horizon. Her work is exhibited in the UK and internationally, and is in private and public collections including the V&A.

There will be beautiful large abstract works (pic) by Jane Procter, glass sculptures by Adele Retter and a roomful of beauty created by talented women who had varied careers during the first part of their lives and have now retrained as artists. Well worth a visit. The Second Half Career Art Exhibition, Celebrating Living Old Masters, 2nd October, 10 am-8 pm at The Second Half Centre, St Charles Hospital Exmoor Street.

While you are there, and if you are 50+, you could sign up for Spanish for absolute beginners, English literature, drawing and painting or a selection of computer, iPad or smartphone courses. thesecondhalfcentre
