Scooter snatchers on the prowl

Here’s a message from Payel Ahmed, our local crime officer, who wants to make us all aware of a new scooter snatching tactic:

‘On Sunday 02/10/16 at 1655 hours suspect on a scooter attempted to snatch Victim of her handbag from a Santander Bike, whilst she was riding on Pembridge Square W2. Victim’s fabric ‘Longchamp’ handbag was in the front of the cycle in the rack and she was riding along with her headphone on she was unaware of the scooter which came from behind and tried to grab her bag from the front area, this failed as her bag had books inside and was heavy and also she had the elastic strap over to secure her bag’.

I would like to take this opportunity and make everyone aware of the method suspects are using recently and it is very important we all are vigilant and aware of our surroundings. I will higly recommend that when we’re out and about we make sure our possessions are intact and avoid walking through low lit areas, where possible. I hope you find this information useful and take something from it. Please pass on the message to friends and families as well. Payel
