Save North Ken library gathers pace

A campaign to save North Kensington Library from being sold to a local preparatory school is gathering pace. Campaigners want the building on the corner of Lancaster Road and Ladbroke Grove to be kept in public use rather than be absorbed into a private institution and not available to all. A petition on needs 1500 by 15th June for the council to have to consider the demands of the campaigners. Pop by the Library this Saturday and lend your support if this is something you feel strongly about. In the wake of the demise of Video City, the haberdasher on Portobello and the First Floor, it would appear that the area is undergoing another unwelcome period of flux which includes removing any opportunity for localism to flourish. I call this Westfieldisation. change
