Portrait of My Land, a photographic exhibition

Original and disturbing portraits by Lithuanian artist Viktorija Stapone are on show at the Lacey Contemporary Gallery. All the portraits place the human form centre stage, almost wrapped in the surrounding nature. Stapone believes our manmade surroundings are a means of escape to a safe illusion and in recognising our apparent lost sense of connection with nature, Stapone’s work captures a bond between nature and the human figure. This is a thought provoking exhibition and well worth going to, if only to see the wonderful image of an old man clutching a bird of prey (pic, above). Portrait of my Land at Lacey Contemporary Gallery, Clarendon Cross until 29th January. laceycontemporarygallery
