Owl tree lopped

treeIt turns out Owl Tree in Kensington Gardens is hollow and potentially dangerous and so has had to have some branches lopped off (pic). A pair of gorgeous tawny owls has been nesting there for about eight years but tree surgeons say the noise and vibration shouldn’t be a problem for them – probably a bit like a human living next to a basement development. London Parks are on high alert at the moment and all the trees are being double-checked after an accident in July when a small boy was airlifted out of Richmond Park with critical head injuries after a branch fell on him. In 2003 a 12 year old boy died in Richmond Park after being crushed by part of a tree. royalparks
