Nuclear at the Gate Theatre

The Gate Theatre is to host Nulcear: A season about the family. Artistic Director Christopher Haydon said: “The family can be a place of security but it can also be the epicentre of catastrophe. In Nuclear… we will take a look at how domestic detonations in this fundamental unit can have profound effects on our society as a whole.” First up is the premier of Nina Segal’s In the Night Time (Before the Sun Rises) directed by Ben Kidd. It is a hallucinatory look at a couple’s experience of having their first baby. Over the course of one night, the new parents try to calm their screaming child – but as the hours grow longer, the world becomes elastic around them and the horrors of the world crash into the baby’s room. Hm sounds very familiar. Previews from 4th February, opens on the 8th through to 27th February. Pic by Bill Knight, shows Alex Waldmann and Adelle Leonce rehearsing as the sleep deprived parents. gatetheatre
