New on the block

After a spate of Notting Hill shops closing new ones are opening. On Kensington Park Road near the art shop there is a new Italian Deli. Specialising in products from the Sapori family in Puglia, owner, Michele Sapori is eager to point out the gluten free pasta he sells – a rarity in these parts. Other luxuries include cured meets, cheese, olives, aubergines and mushrooms and when the alcohol permit is granted you will be able to buy and taste lovely reds from the region. Pop in for breakfast or lunch. On the menu are salads and pasta. Currently open to 7pm.

Privet next door

Next door is Privet a bush shop with a difference, billed as top to toe body topiary. That is all body hair trimmed shaped or removed. A sense of humour prevails with a shed (room) for different treatments including a ‘tool shed’ devoted to male depilation. You can also have a facial or a spray tan. Join the Privet Hedge Fund and you get loyalty points every time you wax. Salon etiquette is highlighted on the website and includes not “touching or reaching out to your therapist” presumably after she has just torn a strip from your nou nou or being mindful of your conversation and the questions you ask  – think nou nou again.
