Mayfest at St John’s

It is here again the St John’s Mayfest, a whole month of festy stuff, concerts, tea dances, films, talks all up and around the church perched on the top of Notting Hill. On 16th May for the adventurous you can climb the St John’s tower from 11am-3pm and the view must be tremendous. The jewel in the Mayest crown takes place on Saturday 9th May from 1pm-5pm and is the traditional May Fair – Notting Hill meets the West Country. There will be stalls selling sticky edible things, plants, bric-a-brac, second hand books and vintage jewellery stalls. Bring your poodle or pug along to the dog show, impress the judges and win a rosette and some treats. A barbecue and a pimms stall should keep the adults amused while little ones bounce away on a rubber castle. Join the Fancy Dress parade and the crowning of the May King and Queen. There are prizes for every one, but judges will be looking out for the most creative homemade costume, as well as other impressive or quirky outfits in both the under fives and five years and above categories. Tickets for the raffle – with fantastic prizes from local businesses including meals at some of Notting Hill’s top restaurants will be on sale beforehand at St John’s church office or at Strutt and Parker on Westbourne Grove as well as on the day. Voila that’s May sorted. nottinghillmayfest
