Margo needs your stem cells

Margot-Martini_2793051bMargo (beautiful little girl in the pic) has blood cancer and her family are desperately seeking a stem cell donor to help save her life. She is 16 months old and has an extremely rare form of Leukaemia which doctors have only seen three times in the last ten years. On Saturday 1st February i.e. this weekend, if you can, you are invited to drop into the Tabernacle between 11am and 4pm and have a swab taken. This simple swab will establish if your stem cells are a match for Margot. Note, you have to be over 17 and in good health. If you are a match, stem cells can be collected via the blood stream. Donors are given a colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) to stimulate cell production for four days prior to collection. On the day of donation the donor’s blood is collected from one arm and passed through a machine that separates out the blood stem cells. The remaining blood is returned through the other arm. Genius. This takes around four hours. www.deletebloodcancer.org.uk
