Sneak peak at new park gallery

Kensington Garden’s new Serpentine Sackler Gallery is on course to open at the end of this year and will look like the picture (left). Royal Parks have granted a licence to the Serpentine Gallery for its listed 1805 building, formerly a gunpowder store, called The Magazine, to be updated and used for exhibitions. The renovation and extension to the building, which has been unused for some time,  is designed by celebrated architect Zaha Hadid and will  house the exhibition space and a restaurant. The gallery has been made possible by a major donation by the Dr Mortimer and Teresa Sackler Foundation. Mortimer Sackler made his fortunes in the pharmaceutical industry and was a life long philanthropist to the arts.
