Lovely landlords – new rules

From well … last week, 1st October … all private sector landlords must have smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Smoke alarms are mandatory on every floor and carbon monoxide alarms must be put in any room which uses or burns solid fuels. These alarms must be checked at the start of any tenancy. Tenants are responsible for the alarms during their stay. A fine of five grand can be levied if landlords fail to keep these news regs. You can get one free smoke alarm per floor and one free carbon monoxide alarm per room that requires one (see above) at the mo from the council. Apply here –¬†freesmokealarms¬†
