Rare sighting of Victorian masterpieces

Rarely seen masterpieces of Victorian art belonging to the Mexican collector Juan Antonio Pérez Simón will be on show at Leighton House this month. This will be the first time the 50 paintings will be shown together in the UK. There will be paintings by Frederic, Lord Leighton and others by the famous artists who visited him. The work includes myths and legends, classical interiors, women in many roles, often looking glamorous and languid like in Roses of Heliogabalus by Lawrence Alma Tadema (pic). Pérez Simón says: “It is an honour to be a part of the journey that allows these masterpieces to be shown in such an authentic setting, and in some cases returning to their home.” A Victorian Obsession: The Pérez Simón Collection at Leighton House Museum, 14 November – 29 March 2015 (open every day except Tuesday) from 10am – 5.30pm. rbkc.gov
