Well this is one that will effect us all and who knew? The Land Registry, a government department created in 1862 to register the ownership of land and property in England and Wales, may be up for sale to a private bidder. Currently the Land Registry has an annual revenue of over £300 million and some say privatisation could raise costs for us and make the process of buying and selling houses less efficient. Too late to have a say as the consultation has closed but there really has been no publicity about it at all. Here is the notification and there is some more information at www.gov.uk Someone who really doesn’t like the idea of the privatisation of the Land Registry has started a petition you can sign if you feel strongly enough about it. It will be hand delivered to Michael Fallon MP … 38degrees.org.uk The sale could raise over £1 billion for the government. The Great British Sell Off.
