KPH, one of the oldest boozers in Notting Hill, on Ladbroke Grove and Lancaster Road has run into bother again. Details are a bit unclear but from what I can glean KPH having been nominated as an Asset of Community Value (ACV) – which stipulates that any owner has to keep the building as a pub – has now been unlisted and is no longer an ACV. Seems odd that one minute you are an asset and the next you are not. Now it was RBKC who originally listed it and it is RBKC who has now unlisted it. Stranger and stranger. The implications are huge as this now will enable the property owner to work towards the closure of the pub and venue to turn it into Flaaaaats. I love this place, I go to amazing jazz nights on Mondays and sing with the KPH choir as a tenor on Tuesdays and I am very partial to the Greek salad. The whole pub has that delicious spicy flavour that Notting Hill had back in the day which is slowly ebbing to a rather bland taste of croissant. Keep the spice and please email your local councillor and ask WHY? thekph.
