Kensington Odeon saved

Kensington Odeon has been saved. Minerva Property’s plans to turn the 88 year old Kensington High Street cinema into a block of luxury flats (pic) with an underground carpark and a  ‘box cinema’ below was rejected at Tuesday’s planning meeting. Hundreds of cinema supporters crammed into the town hall for the meeting and a feisty debate ended at 12.50am. Caroline McLean, leader of the Save the Kensington Odeon Campaign says: “I hope that they will go back to the drawing board and come back with a scheme that gives us the cinema we deserve, with the facade for all , and the affordable housing we need.” The planning committee voted in favour of the cinma by 11 votes to one. A case of less luxury apartments and more L’Appartement. odeon
