K&C celebrates science

Don’t forget from Saturday 3rd October for two weeks there’s a selection of thought-provoking and entertaining free talks and events on the world of science, running at a number of sites across the Royal Borough. The programme ranges from a look into the science, engineering and planning behind Boris bikes and Crossrail construction to artificial intelligence and astrophysics. Highlights include lectures by Dr Noah Moxham and Professor Dave Garner FRS on Sir Hans Sloane’s role in establishing the transactions and proceedings of the Royal Society, and the role that scientific journals play in contemporary science (Monday 5 October); Professor Terry Lyons FRS and Professor Charles Goodhart CBE FBA on the maths and science concepts of financial market analysis (Friday 9 October) and Professor Aaron Williamon on the physics of sound and music, and the physiology of performance (Friday 16 October). The festival runs until Sunday 18 October. celebrationofscience
