Gardener Katie Evans

IMG_0008_6Katie Evans is a local garden designer who can transform spaces from grimy to glam with her photographers eye and her thorough knowledge of plants. Born and bred in Elgin Crescent she gained a degree in History of Art before pursuing her passion, photography. After several hectic years working as an agent for fashion photographers Helmut Newton, and assistant to photographers John Rankin and Glen Luchford she decided on a complete change.  She worked for awhile with Rassells, where Richard Hood was her mentor and encouraged her talent. Evans says: “I started as a small company called Sills, doing window boxes and small gardens, with no experience. It took off and so I trained in horticulture at Capel Manor in Regents Park.” Her first job was with Harold Pinter and Lady Antonia Fraser where she worked for many years. Then 8 years ago Evans went back to Capel Manor to do a course in garden design and since then has been bringing Notting Hill gardens to life (pic).
