InTransit – your festival needs you

In its ninth year InTransit our local art and performance festival is opening on 19th June to 28th June. This is the second year it has been specifically curated by a fantastic team with pieces commissioned and chosen to reflect the space they are in. Twenty events make up the festival and many of them are up here on our doorstep in North Ken. Book to visit a pop up Art School which will be under the Westway where the pop up cinema normally sits. Called Art|House, it has been designed by architects out of bottle crates (see pic). You can take classes, listen to talks or drop into an early evening exhibition. On Friday 26th June to Sunday 28th June there will be an urban beach in Acklam Village also under the Westway with 40 tonnes of sand – buckets and spades are recommended and pray for sunshine. At the beach you will be able take in a gigantic walk in postcard. I love the sound of the Toxic Monks who will be performing at a so far undisclosed destination on a secret day – four monks are on a pilgrimage to paradise and will be combining Gregorian chants with Barbershop quartet numbers. Next week I will highlight a few more of the events but don’t let this amazing festival pass you by. I met the InTransit team this week, they are inspirational, committed, very enthusiastic about Notting Hill and they have moved heaven and earth to bring us this diverse range of creative events which are accessible to everyone AND most of them free. intransit
