Nathalie Mahon Interiors really can bring a room together either starting from scratch or if you have bit of a hotchpotch going on in your living room, she will take a view and make it work without chucking out all your favourite bits. I know because she has helped me do just that and I can now barely buy a loo roll without checking in with her first. Lovely and warm she will never impose her taste (though it is impeccable – French mother) on you but will listen very carefully to help you get the room you want. I forced a very bold shade of blue on her and it looks wonderful thanks to Nathalie’s ability to go with the flow. I can’t recommend her highly enough. Here are her three top tips.
- DO buy an antique or vintage piece of furniture. It couldn’t be any greener or more eco friendly. Adding a mix of old and newer furniture grounds the room
- DO wallpaper an entire room. Wallpaper makes a room cosy and cheerful but just one wall looks hotel-like and corporate.
- DO NOT follow fashion. If you love bold colours then use them. If in doubt as to how, contact an interior designer who can help you find the perfect colour scheme. On paints, this year try using specialist paints and painters. Trompe l’oeil panelling in soft greys gives a fantatsical fairy tale feel to a room. nathaliemahoninteriors.
