Hear about moral courage, pioneering feminists and personal fortitude

5×15 is back with a great line up for five engrossing 15 minute talks at The Tabernacle. There will be:

* Michael Rosen, author of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, which has sold over 8 million copies. He’ll be talking about his latest book The Disappearance of Émile Zola which chronicles the English exile of Émile Zola in 1898.

* Carmen Callil, who vowed to give women a voice and reclaim women’s literature by launching Virago Press in 1973 along with Rosie Boycott. They believed they could change lives through books. She will tell her version of the story of a group of extraordinary pioneering feminists.

* Xiaolu Guo is one of Granta’s best young British writers. Born in South China, she is the author of numerous books including A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers and I Am China. Xiaolu has also directed several award-winning films including She, A Chinese. Her most recent book, Once Upon a Time in the Eastis a memoir.

* Julia Samuel is a grief psychotherapist who has spent the last twenty-five years working with bereaved families, both in private practice and with the NHS at St Mary’s Paddington where she pioneered the role of maternity and paediatric counsellor. She is Founder Patron of Child Bereavement UK, where she continues to play a central role. Grief Works is her first book.
