Happy Birthday Coleridge Goode

Jazz bassist Coleridge Goode, who lives on Elgin Crescent, turned 100 two weeks ago on the 29th November – Happy Birthday Coleridge Goode. Born in Kingston Jamaica in 1914, Goode came to the UK in 1934 to study engineering at Glasgow University. He was an amateur clasical violinist but become interested in jazz and switched to playing the Bass. He is described as one of the best jazz bassists in Europe and he co-wrote his autobiography ‘Bass Lines’ in 2002. In 2011 he was honoured with the Services to Jazz Award at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards. Bass-Lines
