Griffin spots a winner

Winner of this year’s Griffin Art Prize has been announced as Zsofia Schweger, whose work is driven by her experience as a Hungarian living abroad, first in the USA and now in the UK. “I research the notions of home and belonging, local identity, and the emigrant experience,” says says, “My personal narrative has engendered painterly thinking of absence and presence, stillness and duration, space and flatness, cosiness and dread.”  If you pop down to the Griffin Gallery, off St Anne’s Villas and next to the big Talk Talk building, there is a small exhibition of up and coming artists all in the running for this years prize. If you are an artist, you could be inspired and enter the next competition, details on the website … griffingallery
