Goldfinger factory to open soon

1013273_476283425801703_775448520_nGoldfinger Factory at Trellick Tower will be opening next month. It will be a hub of activity, mainly restoring furniture to sell on at its workshop and training centre for disadvantaged locals. There will also be a shop selling the upcycled furniture and Redemption, an alcohol-free bar that serves food.  The profits from sales of the restored furniture will pay for cheap furniture for people on low incomes as well as being used to fund the centre. Many locals have already got involved through supporting the build, using the cafe space and volunteering. Oliver Waddington-Ball, the mastermind behind the project, who grew up nearby and has spent the past five years running a social enterprise consultancy in China, says: “We have the premises, the tools and the expertise – now we want local people. I’ll be delighted to hear from anyone who wants to get involved with our project.” The factory officially opens on 14th November. If you have any unwanted furniture that can be upcycled or a skill you can share you can contact them at [email protected]. Their Facebook page is Goldfinger-Factory  Mary-Lu
