Goldfinger Factory, the wonderful furniture project at the bottom of Trellick Tower has teamed up with big design name Tom Dixon to produce a collection of pieces called Trellick designed to raise money for Goldfinger’s up and coming plans.
Goldfinger took a derelict space at the bottom of Trellick Tower in 2013 and transformed it into a studio , fully-equipped wood workshop, furniture showroom and café. Helping expert local artisans become self-sustaining by providing them with a studio, workshop facilities and retail space was the idea. In return, they pass on their knowledge to local residents looking to pursue careers in craft as well as helping Goldfinger provide building services to commercial clients.
A project that enables companies to sponsor a trainee to earn-while-they-learn was launched by the factory this year. Currently two local boys are on the programme. They are provided with one-on-one training and intensive work experience in a range of traditional skills such as carpentry, joinery, cabinet making, metal work and paint effects.
Goldfinger is now planning to open two new sites in London this autumn. In order to make these dreams a reality, a crowdfunding campaign is being launched on September 12th. The Trellick furniture designed by Tom Dixon and made by Goldfinger will be available as rewards on the crowdfunding campaign and in both the Tom Dixon and Goldfinger Factory showrooms. Either donate to the crowd funding page or buy a bit of this well meaning furniture. goldfingerfactory
