Fresh, healthy food is coming to Notting Hill in spadefuls, and none of it has to be cooked by you. Nutritious and delicious BodyKitchen opens this week, a delivery only kitchen presided over by former Michelin-starred chef Clive Dixon, who worked at Heston Blumenthal’s Hind’s Head pub in Bray and as head chef at Pierre Koffmann’s restaurant at the Berkeley Hotel in London.
Founder Paul Wolfe decided to launch BodyKitchen after a decade of juggling a career and a busy social life. “The eureka moment was in September last year when my wife and I returned from our wedding in Scotland. We found ourselves slumped in front of the TV, eating pizza from a local takeway … as a massive foodie who is also into health and fitness, I spotted a gap in the market for a category of restaurant I describe as healthy gourmet takeaway.”
The menu includes gourmet dishes such as Stuffed Rabbit Leg and Breast of Tidenham duck. The restaurant’s signature dish is a succulent and tender Blade of Highland Beef served with rich braising juices and caramelised onions. There are delicious-sounding side dishes too, including Sweet Potato Masala and Seasonal Greens with Puy Lentils.
A commitment to higher animal welfare resulted in meat, game and poultry from Aubrey Allen – holders of the Royal Warrant as Butchers to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Fish is supplied by James Knight of Mayfair, one of the UK’s oldest and most respected fishmongers (who also hold the Royal Warrant). Drinks are by London-based cold-pressed juice company, PRESS, natural beers by Notting Hill-based Moncada Brewery, and a organic and biodynamic wine list curated by speciality wine merchant The Sampler. It all sounds good. deliveroo
