Quick scan of Portobello and there are so many quick gift stops … first is the pop-up shop on the corner of Blenheim/Portobello which has really lovely things in it: knitted decorations, always welcome as a small present and candles for a tenner which they say use the same wax as Jo Malone. We like the knitted hats with real fur bobbles which look more expensive than the £30 they are charging … and also a range of t-shirts which come in postcard-size packets, too late to send but great for stockings and lovely designs and good quality. Three for £20 designed by local Guy Ford. Next door at Andea are lovely notebooks for £1.95, really pretty designs, and over the road and there on Saturday a market stall with animal ear mufflers. Bound to be a hit. On your way home you could pop into Books for Cooks, chef Clara Grace Paul says Istanbul by Rebecca Seal is her favourite at the mo, or a book called Chickpeas. Done. It’ll only take 10 minutes. 15 if you stop for a coffee at the Tea and Coffee Plant.
