Be fabulous and go out in style

Have you ever had an important event coming up and had a crisis about what to wear? What would make you look brighter? Not disgrace yourself? Be the best you can be? The solution is Notting Hill stylist Susanna Cohen who will sort you out and set you trotting off looking fabulous. Cohen (pic above) worked for 15 years as beauty and style director at Marie Claire and also styled for the Sunday Times Style magazine and has written for a host of national newspapers. (BTW For any of you who would like to follow in her footsteps, she started off as an intern and rose up through the ranks, having been, Cohen admits “passionate about magazines from a really young age.”)

After three children came along Cohen quietly reduced her workload – by now she was flying off to do celebrity styling in LA, cover shoots and awards ceremonies and travelling away was too much. She explains how her work evolved: “Slowly clients started contacting me individually and gradually that took off and became AS interesting AS the magazine SIDE.” She has styled locals Victoria Beckham and Lily Allen for magazine shoots and now she looks after a few special clients, dressing them for special events, parties and red carpet. “I often sort people out with hair and make-up artists too. It’s the whole process to achieve the end result.” The best bit is a specially chosen rack of clothes brought to your home.

For the rest of us, Cohen has some hot tips. Her Three Wardrobe Staples are:

1. A really great bag,

2. A pair of well fitting jeans and

3. The perfect go-to party dress.

And favourite Notting Hill shops? Matches, Aimé and Vanesa Seward, all on Ledbury Road. If you have a special date coming up, here is a crucial contact for you … susannacohen
