Do you have a beautiful Notting Hill home you leave empty for several weeks a year while you and your family are away? If so, why not think about talking to charming Frenchman, Philippe Derville, who set up the luxury private rentals via word of mouth 12 years ago for St Tropez and has now brought the idea to London?
It’s for people who want all the luxuries of a 5-star hotel but with the authenticity of a home-from-home environment when they are travelling. Philippe and his family let out their own luxury villa in St Tropez when they are in London. They had friends who wanted to stay in their London home, then friends of friends, and suddenly they had a business, specialising in providing a high end rentals service to property owners and guests.
Says Dominique de Thomas (pic left), a Frenchwoman living in West London who lets her home during the holidays: “We found our family home was empty during the long school vacations, but we still had all the running costs. Then we met Philippe and his wife Valerie at school and they told us about their private rentals, which operate on word-of-mouth basis.”
For home owners, the Lovelydays team selects guests to suit your property. There is no booking without a personal ‘interview’ first. Once a letting is agreed, Lovelydays does the rest: they clean the house, store valuables, provide mattress covers and luxury linens, towels and bath products. During the guests’ stay a concierge service is provided, with florists, top chefs and daily maid service and chauffeurs. Most importantly, everything returned to exactly where you left it (referencing photos taken beforehand) – and cleaned thoroughly. “This is one of the big perks,” says Dominique. “Not only do you earn money while you’re away, you come back to a spotless home. A win win situation!” If you would like to rent your house contact Philippe Derville at [email protected] (please tell him you read about it in Notting Hill Post). lovelydays
