Neighbours worried about Holland Park development

The Candy brothers’ proposed development of Duke’s Lodge on Holland Park, near the tube, is causing a stir. Residents, who prefer not to be named, say: “We are very concerned about the impact of a 15 metre deep subterranean development on the land and water courses of Holland Park and Campden Hill and the resulting risk of subsidence to properties neighbouring the development [because] these properties already suffer from subsidence.” Another comment is that the bulk and mass of the development jars with the listed buildings in the conservation area. One anxious resident says: “We are very concerned about the loss of privacy. Balconies along the rear of the building will overlook property on Aubrey Road. Full-width glazed openings onto the balconies will also infringe on privacy.” Like others trapped next to a big building scheme the residents say they area also worried about the two years of intensive building work and the dust, noise and vibrations and  “The scheme will result in the loss of parkland to the south of the site,” says the resident. If you want to comment, you can but you have to do it by 10 October at rbkc.gov.uk
