Design museum goes Super-Local

Join The Design Museum and creative team Super-Local for a one day worship exploring making in our neighbourhood. Meet local makers and creatives, visit studios, suppliers and manufacturers to learn about traditional and newer design practices in the area. The pinnacle has to be making a stool using locally sourced materials. The tour will start at the Goldfinger Factory, an award-wining design platform and social enterprise, located on the ground floor of the grade-II listed Trellick Tower. Here participants will visit the workshop and enjoy lunch in the Sicilian cafe. Afterwards  the group will source materials from the Portobello Road. Then off to the Future Factory, where they will be shown an advanced CNC machine cutting the stool’s plywood parts. Following this demonstration, head to Kindred Studios where you will get the chance to upholster and finish a stool. You need to know that it will cost £120 for the day or £98 for Design Museum members and concessions that includes lunch. You must try and book by Monday 13th February. The whole days starts at the Goldfinger Factory at 11am and you will be finished by 5pm. Voila. designmuseum
