Basecuts on Portobello Road has joined a curated list of local A list barbers on a new online booking app called Mojo.London. The new app and website has been created by Notting Hill partners Tom Bray and Nick Sando. Bray says the idea came to them when they were in New York. “I went to university in the states, and moved to the US for a bit 18 months ago. The first thing I needed was a haircut. Where do I go? I tried Google and Yelp but I wasn’t happy with any of the places,” explains Bray. “We looked into it, and were very surprised to find no platform where guys can discover and book the wealth of great barber shops London has to offer. It amazed us that you have to call a hairdresser to make a booking.” Now, small independent companies like Basecuts have an easy way to secure good marketing and booking in one place. Manager Danny Di Giulip (pic above, cutting), a third generation hairdresser, has run Basecuts for the last 10 years and lived in Notting Hill for the past 20. “It gives us an online presence,” he says.
For an 80p booking fee, you the punter can choose a barber from a list or map, see which ones are closest, check prices and see photos. All the barbers are vetted. “We go to all the barbershop and try them out,” says Bray. “We only choose the best, not only on prices, just the best barber we can find in different price categories. mojo.london
