Cracing us with his wit

John Crace, the Guardian’s parliamentary sketch writer and author of I Never Promised You a Rose Garden, a guide to modern politics, will be at the Tabernacle to taunt and jest at a 5×15 event on 18th January. For those who haven’t been to a 5×15 the evening consists of five eminent, intelligent, witty, important human beans talking about something we didn’t know we were interested in for 15 minutes each. Brilliant. Crace will be joined by Misha Glenny on the rise and fall of a Brazilian drug lord called Nem (see – I bet you didn’t know how interesting that one will be), brilliant local Max Porter on his book on grief, and Andrea Wulfwhose book The Invention of Nature is hotly tipped for the Costa biography prize, as well as being a NY Times top book of the year. Oh, and also Assemble’s Maria Lisogorskaya on community and their Turner Prize-winning work, art, design and architecture. It’s going to be a good. One for the diary this, 5×15 says you aren’t allowed to buy tickets until the 2nd January, but it will be a good evening. ticketweb
