Christmas poem from the Print Room

God Rest Ye Merry Playgoers

Let nothing you dismay

For next year’s Print Room season

Is shortly on its way

There’s drama, dance and poetry

And wow – a Jean Genet!

Oh tidings of comfort and joy

Comfort and joy

Oh ti-i-idings of comfort and joy

In Notting Hill this Janu’ry

A Peter Shaffer work

(He wrote Equus and Amadeus;

Stunning handiwork!)

Five Finger Exercise, a play

Where family secrets lurk

And direction by J Glover’s a perk

Yes it’s a perk

And dire-e-ection by J Glover is a perk

Our dance piece ends a trilogy

Well-loved and highly starred:

First water Flow and Ignis flared –

Now Terra strikes you hard!

Choreographed by Essakow

And music by Bernard

Men whose talent is held in high regard

High regard

Men whose ta-a-alent is held in high regard

And ending our main season shows,

A French fancy appears:

In April, Jean Genet’s Death Watch

Not seen for thirty years

Forget the three wise men; instead

Three dang’rous prisoners

Oh les nouvelles du confort et de la joie

Confort et joie

Oh les no-o-ouvelles du confort et de la joie

So yes, next year is looking swell

Of that you can be sure!

(There’s poetry as well, for those

Who love their literature)

Our friends and neighbourhood are great

So long may you endure

Don’t forget you can pick up our brochure

Season brochure

And to all a Merry Christmas and New Year!
