Catching newts in Holland Park

Help catch frogs and newts at the Holland Park wildlife pond on Saturday 17th September or Saturday 15th October. Plans are to move these slippery inhabitants to a temporary home before the pond is renovated.

On the day, if the frogs are not ready to be moved (bags not packed etc), you may be asked to work in the park’s meadows and this could involve using a scythe to cut back the grasses.

Holland Park Ecology Centre is trying to boost its pool of conservation volunteers. Since 2008, over 1,700 energetic peops have contributed their time to help manage the park’s wildlife areas. Volunteers need no previous experience working in wildlife conservation, just enthusiasm and time are required.

Interested? Then meet outside Holland Park Café at 10.30am, work finishes at 3pm. For more information contact Laura 07739 317337 or email [email protected]

Btw wear sturdy shoes, old clothes, waterproofs and remember to bring your lunch. Gloves, tools, instruction and refreshments are provided.
