Carnival in a book

Screen Shot 2014-08-02 at 16.32.41Just in time for this year’s carnival a book, called Carnival, is being launched this weekend. It is the first book detailing the carnival’s history and the photographs are amazing. Written by Ishmahil Blagrove and Margaret Busby, there are short interviews with people who were at the early 1960s carnivals or who knew people who were and the story is told right up to today’s dance, music, feather fest. Everyone is invited to the launch at the Tabernacle, where there will be a talk about the carnival’s contribution to Britain and a photographic exhibition. Saturday, 9 August, 6.30pm – 9.30pm
