Benda Bilili first of bike film season

Cycle themed films are the focus of the Bikeminded Film Club, which returns for a fourth year. All the films, which are free to watch, will be shown in the cosy art-decó lecture theatre at Kensington Central Library.

The first screening will be Benda Belili, a documentary film that follows a group of street musicians in the Democratic Republic of Congo and their trajectory to perform concerts in Europe. The core members of the band are disabled due to poliomyelitis and move around in specially customised tricycles. They used to live around the grounds of the zoo in Kinshasa, the country’s capital. Benda Bilili means ‘look beyond appearances’ in Lingala. At Kensington Central Library, Phillimore Walk, Thursday, 3rd November, 7.30pm – 9pm. eventbrite
