Big basements blocked until December

Planning permissions for big basements are being put on hold until December, the only ones the planning department will allow are those which are within the envelope for new rules now being decided on, including that they are one level deep, under no more than half the garden and not under a listed building. After a year of consultations with residents, developers and conservationists on a new basement policy for the borough, the new basement regulations should be decided by December, until then the council has decided to hold off making any decisions on basements until they are clear about the new rules. If the new policy on basements is not accepted all those applications on hold will go through as usual.  rbkc.newsweaver
